Jobs, Robots and Regulation

I guess there is a feeling that we could all be redundant in a global market. Is software replacing or improving our jobs with automation?
Is optimization removing (normalizing) or personalizing the human experience?

Will protectionism improve job creation, happiness and prosperity?
Or is government preventing job creation with close ties in:
- granting over-reaching intellectual rights on natural monopolies?- using anti-trust where user-rights and fair would be more relevant?
- imposing surveillance that threaten security and trust systems?

The most striking difference in ideals seem be hitting:
- Net neutrality
- Exclusive rights on abstract ideas
- Encryption.

Its scary.
